Defending workers' rights on social media: Chinese seafarers during the COVID?19 pandemic

This paper explores the power dynamics in process of Chinese seafarers' labour rights defence activities on social media during crew change crisis caused by COVID-19 pandemic. It shows that while exercising symbolic is at core such activities, effectiveness depends networking/distributing hub nodes and associational maritime community to help generate visibility. The nodes, however, are subject tight control China, as such, their ability deploy constrained. suggests worker conditioned sociopolitical factors.
